Those who labor for God will face persecution

Church history seems to show that one of the devil’s favorite ways to attack those who labor for God is to tarnish their reputations.

Therefore, I believe we should never accept an accusation against a fellow Catholic without irrefutable evidence or personal knowledge of the facts. And even then, perhaps we should ask ourselves whether paying attention to such criticism, even when it happens to be true, serves any good purpose.

Saint John of the Cross: “Never listen to a single word about the weaknesses of others. If someone comes to complain to you about their neighbor, humbly ask them not to tell you anything.”
