No salvation outside the Catholic Church

Saint Peter Canisius, The Great Catechism:

“Outside this communion of saints, just as formerly outside Noah’s ark, there is salvation for no one, but, on the contrary, certain damnation for all.

And thus one must reason with regard to the Jews and the Gentiles, who have never embraced the faith of the Church; with regard to heretics, who have abandoned or altered it; with regard to schismatics, who have broken the peace and unity of the Church; and finally with regard to the excommunicated, who, for some other grave cause, have deserved to be cut off and separated from the body of the Church as corrupted members.

All these latter, not belonging to the Church and to her holy communion, cannot participate in divine grace and eternal salvation unless they first reconcile themselves and return to the Church from which they have wrongly separated themselves. For this rule, laid down by Saint Cyprian and Saint Augustine, is unchangeable: He cannot have God for his Father who refuses to have the Church for his Mother.”
