Chapter 5

Let the Brothers to whom the Lord has given the grace to work labor faithfully and devoutly, in such a way that, while banishing idleness, the enemy of the soul, they do not extinguish the spirit of holy prayer and devotion, to which all other temporal things must be directed.

But as for the payment they receive for their work, let them receive for themselves and for their Brothers the things necessary for the body, except currency or money; and this, humbly, as befits the servants of God and the disciples of the most holy Poverty.
