"Praised be Thou, my Lord"

Grace directs souls differently, and all our perfection consists in faithfully following its movements

Henri-Marie Boudon:

“Thus, grace directs souls differently, and all our perfection consists in faithfully following its movements.

Not everyone is called to practice every kind of devotion, which would not even be possible. Nor should we believe that simply because a particular state of life is good, we ought to enter it, or that we should follow every possible path, however perfect it may be.

We must discern what God, who is all-good, asks of each one of us, and submit ourselves to His will in obedience.

It is a serious mistake, however, to take up a state of life, even a holy one, if we have not been called to it. This is what brings about the downfall of many who accept ecclesiastical benefices, enter the priesthood, or embrace austere and rigorous ways of life simply because these are good things, without considering whether God is asking these things of them.

Let each person, therefore, walk according to his or her vocation and remain faithful to the grace received.”
